I am a passionate paediatric nutritionist and feeding therapist here to support you with the skills and strategies you need to feel confident in feeding your little ones.

Hi, I’m Hannah.

Starting Solids

Reaching this milestone in your baby’s life is an exciting and sometimes nerve-racking stage. It’s also a critical window for offering the nutrients your child needs for optimal growth and development, while laying the foundations for a positive relationship with food.

If you are preparing to start solids or have already begun and are looking for extra support, I will equip you with everything you need to feel confident and calm during mealtimes. I will also guide you through common challenges like gagging, vomiting, allergies, food sensitivities, and constipation. Together we will set your baby up for success and build positive mealtime habits that last a lifetime.

Picky Eating

It is a common myth that picky eating is just a phase every child will outgrow. There are often underlying reasons for feeding struggles and when left unaddressed, these challenges can become deeply rooted and difficult to resolve over time.

Early support can make a lasting difference in your child’s growth and development, and their relationship with food. It also helps you avoid common pitfalls like mealtime battles, reliance on screens, and preparing separate meals.

I offer evidence-based strategies tailored to suit your child and family, acknowledging each child has their own unique needs that must be met to feel safe exploring new foods at their own pace.

Feeding Therapy

Feeding therapy is a wonderful resource for children with a limited diet, including but not limited to those diagnosed with Paediatric Feeding Disorder (PFD) and Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).

Feeding Therapy puts the fun back in to food, using play with a purpose to expand the variety food types and textures your little one tolerates and enjoys. We prioritise your child’s intrinsic motivation to eat while working on skill development.

These sessions can take place in your home or in clinic and are always a low-pressure, high-fun environment. This service is currently offered to children aged 6 months to 6 years old.

Whole-Child Approach

As a mum of two young kids, I know how challenging mealtimes can be. From the mental load of planning and preparing meals to the stress of food being rejected and kids running on empty; it’s a lot!  My whole-child approach focusses on achieving a balanced and nutritious diet that is built on a framework of fun and connection at mealtimes.  I believe in a collaborative approach that recognises you are the expert of your child.  We will work together to uncover the root cause of feeding challenges and lay a firm foundation for your child to thrive as they expand their diet from starting solids to toddlerhood and beyond.

In The Kitchen

Fun fact about me: I don’t enjoy cooking. I once started a fire trying to boil pasta, I covered our newly renovated white kitchen in a bright pink beetroot smoothie (google 'cat in the hat - kitchen mess scene' if you need a visual), and I recently used three pots and two frying pans trying to cook a ‘one-pot soup’. Cooking does not come naturally to me, and I know many parents feel the same. As a result, I prioritise low-fuss cooking that's easy, affordable, and yummy so that we can spend more time with our family and less time starting fires in the kitchen.

Qualifications

I hold a Bachelor of Human Nutrition and have completed additional studies in paediatric nutrition. I am trained in the SOS (Sequential-Oral-Sensory) Approach to Feeding which is an evidence-based approach that uses play with a purpose to expand a child’s diet. I have a beautiful, very strong-willed picky eater at home who is the original source of my passion for child nutrition.

Support

Based in Holt, Canberra, I offer in-clinic consultations for parents and caregivers. We have an in-depth chat about your concerns, assess your child’s current diet and identify possible gaps in nutrient intake, explore potential physical and neurological factors impacting eating, and much more. Where possible, this is a time for you to seek support without your child present so that we can speak openly and honestly.

FAQs

  • I typically focus on children from starting solids to 6 years old, however, if you have an older child needing support, please reach out via email.

  • This varies depending on your child’s needs.  We aim for weekly or fortnightly therapy sessions and will discuss a tailored plan for your child after an initial in-clinic appointment.

  • It’s highly recommended that both parents attend so that you are on the same page when implementing new strategies at home.  If one parent is unable to attend in person, they are welcome to be included via video call.

  • While it is preferable that they do not attend so that you are able to speak openly and honestly, I completely understand that sometimes that’s just not possible.  Please bring your child with you if it causes stress to find alternative care.  I have a basket of fun to occupy them and will always be mindful of what is said in front of them.

  • I consult out of Little Hands Occupational Therapy in Holt.  This is across the road from Kippax Shopping Centre and the address is 1/2 Luke Street, Holt ACT 2615.  It’s recommended that you park in the Kippax Shopping Centre Carpark and walk a short distance to the clinic.  There is free parking available.

  • You can follow me on Instagram where you will find lots of helpful information.  I also run workshops for parents across Canberra which I announce on my Instagram page.

  • I’d love to hear from you!  Please email me at hello@littlebelliesnutrition.com.
